How does Mantra work

 Topic : Benefit of Mantra

JUST AN ALAMBAN??? RESEARCH MORE

I think mantra have two purposes

  1. Sound vibrations from the words being pronounced.

I haven't researched on how the vibrations interact with our karm and to what extent, coz if they do, then our everyday speaking should affect our karmas as well, and this theory just spirals out quickly into building a fear inside me around what if I end up pronouncing something incorrectly and it end up causing problems? Infact what if I just sing any geetika that was built with good intent but the writer didn't have the mantra vidya that might result in wrong vibrations?

I have also heard theory around mantras being a shortcut calls to devtas coz devtas are trained to respond to those beej mantras in that order coz of generations of reciting those mantras. But as I shared above I don't want to aim for any daivik interference either.

  1. The reflections that we do when we recite the mantra

This feels logical to me coz it sprouts the positive bhaav, and reminds and inspires us to get back on the right track.

Deep dhyaan also results in positive spandan (vibrations) inside us, lower kashay and helps in nirjara.

But there are some "by product benefits" beyond these two, over time we associate feelings with acts, like you mentioned, reciting mantra can feel calming, it can set your mood right, even if you don't do dhyaan on it, it might feel energizing because you have trained your mind to feel that way.

But you might wanna pause and think, do you want to be happy with just the by products or do you want to optimise on the main benefit of nirjara ! 🙃
